Israeli-Arab Conflict
First and foremost, the violence must stop. Suicide bombings, rocket attacks on civilian targets, and military assaults that destroy civilian infrastructure and kill innocent people cannot be condoned under any circumstances.
There is a common principle at the heart of Christianity, Judaism, Islam, and secular moral philosophy. That principle is, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you," a principle which grade school children learn as "The Golden Rule." The U.S. Government should hold all parties in the Israeli-Arab conflict to the Golden Rule, and should adhere to the Golden Rule itself. As a U.S. Congressman, I will call for a truth and reconciliation commission to explore the deepest roots of the Israeli-Arab conflict, and I will do everything in my power to help bring all parties in the Israeli-Arab conflict together to work cooperatively, in accordance with the Golden Rule, to establish peace, justice, and prosperity for all the people of the Middle East.
