Social Security
I oppose the privatization of Social Security. The Social Security system has been successful for the last 71 years in providing U.S. citizens with a financial safety net when they retire. Privatization of Social Security would destroy this safety net by turning the goal of Social Security away from maximizing financial security for seniors, and instead toward maximizing profits of the investment and banking industry. There is no short term crisis in funding of Social Security. There is a looming long-term crisis only if we continue the reckless and irresponsibile fiscal policies of the Bush Administration, policies which are supported by my opponent.
