Torture

I am shocked that as a candidate running for U.S. Congress in the 21st Century, I have been repeatedly asked, "What is your position on torture?" I am further shocked that my Republican opponent tacitly condones the use of torture. I am unequivocally opposed to torture. The founders of our country included a ban on cruel and unusual punishment in the Eighth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. I believe that the torture issue is symbolic of the extent to which our government has strayed from the principles upon which our country was founded. As a U.S. Congressman, I will uphold those principles, not abandon them.
